Man charged with allegedly setting fire to apartment he lives in

A 25-year-old St Catherine man is now in police custody after he allegedly set fire to the apartment complex where he lives, leaving several other units in ruins.

The St Catherine South police have charged Alfonso Hall, otherwise called 'Christopher', of Lime Tree Crescent, Newland in St Catherine, with arson.

Reports from the Portmore police are that about 4:00 p.m. on October 31, Hall allegedly set fire to a section of the building he occupies. The blaze spread through three apartments, damaging furniture, appliances and identity documents.

Hall was taken into custody after being pointed out by the complainants and later charged after giving a caution statement.

His court date is now being finalised.
