After steamrolling through Zone K with another convincing win, 6-0 against Brown's Town High in the ISSA daCosta Cup competition on Saturday, Ocho Rios High School's head coach, Veron Peterkin, says he is proud of the team's growing resilience and performances.

Ocho Rios, which have a perfect record since the beginning of the season, saw Nathan Whitehorne scored in the 39th minute, 67th and stoppage time to complete a hat-trick. His teammates Dario James added to the tally in the 50th minute, while Keneil Brown scored in 68th minute and completed his brace in 87th minute.

With this win, Ocho Rios sit atop the zone on 15 points from five wins, and pushed Brown's Town down to fourth in the standings on six points, having won two and lost two.

"The players are growing game by game and I am proud of that. They are basically starting to come into their own and their performance is not bad," Peterkin said, noting, that the team has been getting the job done despite a lack of practice matches in the summer.

According to the fourth-year coach, the aim is to continue on the winning path.

"We aim to basically top the zone. We play every game to win so, hopefully, after every game we are successful with three points," added Peterkin.

In a St Elizabeth derby on Saturday, which was delayed for half an hour owing to heavy rainfall and lightning, home team St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) blanked archrivals Munro College 2-0.

Justin McPherson opened the scoring in the 11th minute, while Kaieem Lewis doubled the lead in the 20th.

The win pushed STETHS to second in the zone with eight points, from two wins and two draws, while Munro dropped to fifth on five points, from two losses, one win, and two draws.

STETHS' head coach Omar Wedderburn said that despite not starting well the team maintained composure.

"We came here to get all three points because we know our quality and respect the start. We kept calm and collected. If we nah seh God, we nah seh nothing and that is our motto moving forward," said Wedderburn.

Like Peterkin, Wedderburn's goal is to top the zone.

"We did as much to win this game in the first 45 (minutes) and it paid dividends for the rest of the game. It was clear today that we didn't need a full 90 minutes to win," Wedderburn stated.

McPherson had given his team the lead when he headed the ball over Munro's goalkeeper Jason Williams to score.

Nine minutes later, Lewis earned his team a free kick and curled the ball over the wall and into the goal, to cement the win.

In some other high scoring games on Saturday, defending champions Garvey Maceo thumped Bustamante High 12-0, Port Antonio drubbed Titchfield 9-0, and B.B. Coke hammered Sydney Pagon STEM 6-0. Black River cruised by Little London 5-0, and Paul Bogle blanked Fair Prospect 5-0.

In Westmoreland, The Manning's School continued on a perfect record with a 2-0 win over returning team Petersfield High.

The competition continues today.
