Robbery accused absconds bail
A 21-year-old man who is a facing a charge of robbery with aggravation was yesterday denied bail when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
The accused, Ricardo Lee, has not yet entered a plea. It is reported that on January 24, 2020, the complainant had just exited a taxi and was walking along Red Hills Road when Lee, who was in the company of two other males, alighted from a vehicle and robbed the complainant of her handbag containing her passport, a gold chain and purse, and threatened to kill her.
However, when he appeared in court yesterday, the investigating officer was opposed to bail as it was revealed that Lee was before the Gun Court for another case of robbery with aggravation which was also committed in 2020. He had absconded bail before the Red Hills Road incident. The court heard that he is being investigated for other robberies.
It was also revealed that Lee could not be found prior to last month when he was arrested after reporting to the police as a condition of his bail.
A fingerprint order was made and Lee is to return to court on January 18, 2022.
