Grandmother knew my ex was giving me a jacket

Dear Pastor,

I am a regular reader of your column and I am having a problem. I have a child and when this girl told me that I was the one who got her pregnant, I was excited until I found out that she was cheating.

I told her that when the child was born I would like us to do a paternity test. She said that she did not have to do that because she was sure that I got her pregnant. I told her I was not sure, but I wanted to be. I told my grandmother about the situation and when this girl told me she was going to give birth, I called her and I told her that I was coming to see her. I took my grandmother with me and my grandmother looked at the baby's hands and feet and told me that it was not my child. I asked her how she knew and she said every baby who is born without these marks are jackets, and the girl should go and look for the father. I wanted to give her $5,000 but my grandmother told me that I shouldn't because I would be accepting responsibility for that child; so I kept the money and walked away. She hasn't called me and asked for anything. I called her and she cursed me and told me to get off her phone because I am no good.

She found the father of the child and that child is now in school in the man's name. Had it not been for my grandmother, I would be supporting a jacket. This girl just wanted me to support her and was hoping to get money from the biological father. I have to praise my grandmother for saving me money.

I am in a similar situation now. I have grown older and wiser, but when it comes to women, I am like a fool. I have my regular girlfriend, but recently I went with a girl on a night out and we had unprotected sex. Both of us knew better, but in the heat of things, we did not try to protect ourselves. Now this girl is pregnant. I don't know if this child is mine, but I have told her we should do the DNA test and I will support the child if it is mine. She said she is willing to do the test. If this child is mine, I am willing to marry this girl because she is young and decent. I don't want my name to be called with another woman. I want to have three children.

Dear G.J.,

I don't know what special gifts some senior citizens have that they can determine whether their sons or grandsons are responsible for impregnating a woman.

Your grandmother looked at this baby that your girlfriend said you fathered, and told you the child was not yours. In hearing that, you turned away and did not give the mother any money because you believed your grandmother. You already had your doubts and that is why you took your grandmother when you were visiting the child for the first time. This girl knew very well that you were not the father of her baby, so your grandmother was correct to tell you not to give her any money.

Concerning the present young woman, you don't have any doubt that you impregnated her, but you want to be sure about what you are doing. She is willing to do the paternity test. You have given her your word that if you are the biological father you will support the child and marry her. I hope you will keep your word and that you will stop running up and down.
