My man’s babymother won’t leave him alone

June 27, 2022

Dear Pastor,

I am a 25-year-old Christian woman and my boyfriend is 42 years old. He looks very young for his age. As a Christian woman, I was praying to God for a good man. This man is my first relationship. As my boyfriend, he shows me that he loves me and that he wants to be with me. He has a child with another woman. He told me that they are not in a relationship, but he goes to her house to visit his child.

My boyfriend is always available for me, and he gives me all his time. But his child's mother doesn't want to leave him. He shows me off to his friends. I don't know if that is a good thing to do. I don't have any experience in man-woman relationship. That is why I am asking for your advice.

Please, pastor, I want to know if the age range is too wide, or if it is okay and we should continue our relationship.

Dear B.C.,

This man is proud to have you as his girlfriend, that is why he shows you off to his friends. Perhaps you are very attractive. He considers himself fortunate to have you. Don't consider his age to be a bother. He is only 17 years older than you. If at the beginning of the friendship you thought he was too old, you should've told him. He is a mature man. He has learned how to take care of a woman. He makes himself available for you.

You know about the child he fathered and how the child's mother is trying to hang on to him. The reason why she is doing so is because he has proven to be a good man and a good father to his child. Don't get involved with the two of them; let him deal with her on his own. You did not say whether you are working, I am assuming that you are. What I would encourage you to do is to try your best to go back to school. Work on a career. Don't go and live with this man unless both of you are married. All the best.
