File Cyclists from across the Caribbean competing in the Jamaica Cycling Federation's (JCF) Kingston Criterium held in Downtown, Kingston on May 14, 2017. The JCF sanctions many cycling initiatives similar this and the Ride for a Violence Free Community, across the island.

The Jamaica Cycling Federation is giving its support to the 'Ride for a Violence Free Community,' scheduled for tomorrow in the Grange Hill Square, Westmoreland.

The ride, organised by President of the Westmoreland Cycling Club, Dale 'Maruchi' Allen, is a popular event on the racing calendar for the past 20 years and is known as the Westmoreland Cycling Classic. However, the organisers have dubbed the event a "Ride for a Violence Free Community,' to bring attention to the crime in the community and use sports as a way to build community spirit.

The ride is being sponsored by the Member of Parliament Dr Wykeham McNeill, former cyclist Glendon Tomlinson, as well as several community businesses.

Registration for the race begins at 11 a.m. with the 10- event race card starting at 12 p.m.

This event is an annual one on the Jamaica Cycling Federation's calendar and is also being used to revive the Westmoreland Cycling Club as the federation seeks to rebuild the passion for cycling across the country.
