GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Oil giants ExxonMobil will be the main sponsors of the Guyana Amazon Warriors in this season's Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

ExxonMobil, which was also part of the franchise's set-up last year, has replaced the Amazon's main sponsor GTT.

The official unveiling of the partnership between the company and the franchise took place yesterday during a media launch.

It is hoped that the change of sponsorship will bring about a change of luck for the Amazon Warriors, who have reached the finals of the CPL on three occasions, but have failed to win a title.

The Amazon Warriors have also reached the semi-finals twice.

The tournament will run from August 8 to September 16. Apart from five Guyana Amazon Warriors home games, Guyana will also host the two play-off matches for the first time in the tournament's history.
