It was a difficult day for South American teams at the FIFA World Cup yesterday. Peru lost 1-0 to France, in the Yekaterinburg Arena, in Yekaterinburg, and have been eliminated from the competition with a game to spare. Argentina, playing in the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod, lost 3-0 to Croatia and their survival chances have slimmed as a result.

Croatia, like France, have advanced to the next round and Denmark have a good chance as well after drawing 1-1 with Australia in the Samara Arena, in Samara. These photos captured the emotions felt on the day.
