Police keep a close eye on mourners on Luke Lane after their relative Damion Henry was gunned down close to the Kingston Public Hospital.

The family of 30-year-old Damion 'Danger' Henry, who was gunned down in the Kingston Public Hospital car park yesterday, said they had signs that something was going to go wrong.

Tears, wailing and disbelief filled the air outside the hospital and later at Luke Lane, as relatives struggled to come to terms with his violent death.

"Mi dream see him lie down pon one black and white Chanel sheet and mi tell him say 'Husband a death this, enuh', be careful and him say 'Yes wife'," said a woman who identified herself as the mother of his children. She added that her feet normally hurt when something bad is about to happen, and that was the case this time. Despite the unease, Henry had insisted on taking his children to the doctor after they fell ill. The woman's voice cracked as she questioned whether things could have been different.

"Maybe if me did ready, a me and the pickney them woulda deh inna the car too. A shorts and one blouse mi did inna, mi neva have on no clothes," she said. The grief intensified as she described his final moments.

"The shot weh him get inna him head and the shot weh him get close to him heart, a it kill him," she said, triggering painful cries from those gathered. She also recalled a chilling conversation she had with him days earlier. "Mi say to him say mi babyfather, as a man, when you live fi see certain age a nuh easy something. As a woman you have a better chance. Him ask me wah me mean and mi tell him say mi bredda dead at the age of 29 so you pass 29 so mek we give God thanks."

Another woman claimed that Henry had long feared being targeted, while dreams and premonitions also haunted others.

"Mi go a mi bed and dream seh dem a give me flowers and mi ask dem 'Wah unno a give me flowers fah?' and dash weh di flowers! And look yah now a this! A the flowers dis?" one woman wailed.

There was weeping among multiple women who are Henry's relatives, as the reality of his death sank in. A relative revealed that another family member who was in the vehicle is now hospitalised, his condition uncertain.

Tensions escalated in the area as police detained several men, which did not please residents.

"Dem gone wid the wul a fi wi bwoy dem bout retaliate. Man can just dead and unno scrape up everybody weh nuh have nothing fi do with it and gone wid dem?" one woman said. Residents also said that area was peaceful.

Residents say the car park has seen multiple shootings over time, including persons who were simply visiting loved ones at the hospital. Several persons who had business in the area were left stranded into the late evening as the car park was cordoned off as an active crime scene.
