Security guard accused of stealing chairs has bail extended
Nashaun Spence, the security guard who was caught allegedly stealing chairs from a police checkpoint in St Catherine, had his bail extended when he appeared in court on Tuesday.
He is expected to answer to the charge of simple larceny on January 10, 2024.
When the matter was mentioned before senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne in the St Catherine Parish Court, concerns were expressed on the lengthy delay to complete the case file.
It is reported that on March 16, 2023, the accused was driving home from work when he came up to an unoccupied police checkpoint near the Jose Marti High School round-a-bout in St Catherine.
It is alleged that Spence stopped and placed several chairs which sat at the checkpoint inside his vehicle.
It is further reported that members of a police formation on patrol saw the illegal act and accosted the accused who now had the loot inside the vehicle. He was arrested shortly after.
