Party hosts fined for breaching DRMA

Three persons who dared to breach the containment measures under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) and hosted a party were ordered to pay hefty fines when they appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court last Friday.

Anna-Kay Dunkley, Tiffany Gordon and Kazeime Harris pleaded guilty to several breaches under the DRMA when they appeared before Senior Parish judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague. They were charged with failure to wear a mask in a public place, breaching the curfew order, and breaching the gathering limit.

Dunkley was additionally charged for failure to obtain permission from the superintendent of police, as well as breaching the Noise Abatement Act.

It was reported that they were hosting a party without the permission of a superintendent, with over 50 patrons in attendance.

Gordon and Harris were each fined $50,000 or face six months' imprisonment for breaching the curfew order; for exceeding the gathering limit, they were each fined $40,000 or six months' imprisonment; and for the offence of not wearing a mask, they were fined $10,000 or 30 days' imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Dunkley was ordered to pay a fine of $15,000 for breaching the Noise Abatement Act or three months' imprisonment; and for breaching the gathering limit, she was fined $40,000 or face six months' imprisonment. For the offence of failure to obtain permission from the superintendent, the judge ordered Dunkley to pay a fine of $20,000 or serve three months' in prison.
